SU Singers invited to perform at American Choral Directors Association convention

Syracuse University Singers, a highly select choral ensemble based in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), has been invited to perform a concert at the Eastern Division Convention of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). The convention will be held February 10-13 in Philadelphia.
University Singers specializes in the great choral repertoire of the last five centuries, including both a cappella and accompanied works. The group is conducted by John Warren, assistant professor of music education and conducting and director of choral activities in the Setnor School.
ACDA is the premier organization for choral directors in the United States and aims to foster and promote choral singing that provides artistic, cultural and spiritual experiences for participants. It boasts thousands of members who conduct choirs at all age, experience and musical levels. The eastern division is the second largest division, with members from 11 northeastern states.
“To be invited to perform a concert at an ACDA convention is the highest honor an American choir can achieve,” says Warren. “The rigorous audition process demands recordings from three consecutive years by the same choir and the same conductor. Therefore, the performance level at the conventions is amazingly high. It also says a great deal about the consistent excellence our choral program is achieving.”
