Fiber Arts

Our master of fine arts (M.F.A.) degree program in fiber arts is concerned with work that is defined primarily by fiber materials and/or techniques. We encourage experimentation in diverse applications.

You will have the opportunity to conduct research through individual programs developed in consultation with the faculty, who also regularly critique students' work. Your program of study is also designed to allow you to experience other areas of the University.

The facilities include four- and eight-harness looms, electronic knitting equipment, a dye lab, and a printing facility. Our students work in a thriving, collaborative community of student artists in our ceramics, metalsmithing, printmaking, and sculpture programs.

The School of Art and Design feels that drawing plays a vital and primary role in the creative life of an artist. Click here to read more about this common thread that weaves through our art and design programs.
